One-Time Pricing
One-time pricing means the buyer pays once. There is no renewal, no installment schedule, and no subscription to cancel later. It is the default way to sell downloads, templates, workshops-in-a-box, and most digital products on Flo.
Available on every Flo plan
Free creators can use one-time pricing on products. Subscriptions and payment plans require Creator or higher. See Pricing overview.
One-time is the right model when access or delivery does not depend on an ongoing charge — the fan pays, you fulfill, the transaction is done.
When to use one-time
| Good fit | Examples |
|---|---|
| Single download or file | PDF, Notion template, preset pack |
| One-off service you fulfill yourself | Custom audit, shipped item (Manual delivery) |
| Lead magnet priced at $0 | Free guide in exchange for going through checkout |
| Paid offer with optional discount code | Launch sale with a coupon |
| Main offer before an order bump | Core product, then a small add-on at checkout |
| Use something else | When |
|---|---|
| Subscription | Ongoing access until the fan cancels |
| Payment plan | Fixed number of payments (e.g. 3× $99) |
| Memberships | Tiered community or portal access (separate product area) |
You can still put one-time and subscription options on the same product — fans pick one at checkout. See Mixed pricing in the overview.
Set up a one-time price
Open the product
Dashboard → Products → New product, or open an existing product from the list.
Choose One-time
In Pricing, open a price card (or add one with Add price option). Under Pricing type, select One-time — Single payment.
Set You receive or Buyer pays
- You receive — enter what you want in your balance after fees (guaranteed take-home on successful sales).
- Buyer pays — enter the sticker price fans see at checkout.
See You receive vs Buyer pays in the pricing overview.
Optional label and description
Label — short name on the price toggle (e.g. Standard, VIP).
Description — line under the price (e.g. Instant download).Choose delivery
- Digital download — add a Delivery URL (sent in the receipt email after purchase).
- Manual delivery — you fulfill yourself; Flo still collects payment.
Save and publish
Save the product, add a Sell a Product block in the builder, select this product, then Update live on your page.
You can add up to three price options per product. Only one needs to be One-time; the others can be subscriptions or payment plans on Creator+.
Free vs paid one-time
| Price | What fans see | Flo Payments |
|---|---|---|
| $0 | Free (or FREE on some block styles) | No platform fee; you do not need an Active earnings account for $0 offers |
| $0.50+ (USD) | Your formatted price | Active Flo Payments required before paid checkout completes |
Paid one-time prices must meet Flo’s minimum charge for your currency. The editor reminds you: Minimum $0.50 for paid prices (50¢ USD by default).
Free products are exactly $0 — not $0.01 and not “almost free.” If you want email capture without a product checkout, you can also use a Capture Emails block on your page.
What happens at checkout
- A fan clicks your buy button on a Sell a Product block.
- Flo uses the one-time price they selected (or your only price).
- They complete payment:
- On Featured and Minimal checkout blocks, payment happens in the Flo Pay modal on your page (card and supported methods).
- On Card-style checkout blocks, they may be sent to a secure hosted checkout page to finish payment.
- After a successful payment, Flo records the sale and runs fulfillment for your delivery type.
Fans do not need an account on Flo to buy. They need a valid payment method for paid products.
Coupons (one-time only)
Discount codes work on one-time product checkouts. They do not apply to subscriptions or payment plans on the same product.
Create coupons when editing a product under Discounts, or manage global discounts from the products dashboard. Flo validates the code at checkout and adjusts the charge — discounts cannot push a paid price below the currency minimum.
Order bumps and upsells
Creator plan requiredOn Creator+, you can attach an order bump (extra product at checkout) or a post-purchase upsell to eligible checkout blocks. Both only work when the main purchase is one-time.
Bump and upsell products must use Buyer pays pricing (not You receive).
After a successful sale
| What | Detail |
|---|---|
| Your balance | Sale appears in Dashboard → Wallet (timing: pending then available per your payout settings) |
| Digital delivery | Buyer receives a receipt email with your Delivery URL when the product is Digital download |
| Manual delivery | You fulfill on your own; Flo does not send a download link automatically |
| Notifications | You get notified of new sales according to your notification settings |
For order history and fan-facing library details, see Orders when documented.
You receive vs Buyer pays (one-time)
Both modes work the same for one-time sales; only the starting number differs.
Example — You receive $47 on Creator (3% + $0.50 flat):
- You type $47 under You receive.
- Preview might show: Buyers will pay $51.82 · You receive $47.00 guaranteed.
- Each successful sale credits $47 to your balance (before refunds or chargebacks).
Example — Buyer pays $47:
- Fans pay $47 at checkout.
- Preview might show: You'll receive approx $42.90 after fees.
Full fee breakdown by plan: Flo Payments.
Sales tax
If you enabled automatic tax in Settings → Flo Payments, it can apply at checkout on paid sales according to your tax settings. Tax is separate from Flo’s platform fee.
Multiple one-time prices on one product
Useful when you want tiers without turning on subscriptions:
| Example labels | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Basic / Pro | Different files or bonus content |
| Personal / Commercial license | Usage rights |
| Early bird / Full price | Two one-time amounts (or use a coupon for launches) |
Fans choose a pill at checkout, then pay once for that option.
Changing a one-time price later
| Change | Effect on existing buyers |
|---|---|
| Label or description only | Updates what new visitors see; past buyers unchanged |
| Amount or switch from One-time to subscription/plan | New buyers get the new setup; past one-time buyers already purchased |
If you later add subscription pricing to the same product, existing one-time customers are not automatically moved to a subscription — they keep what they bought unless you sell them something new.
