Digital Delivery
Digital download is how Flo delivers links and files you already host — Google Drive, Dropbox, Notion, Gumroad, your course platform, or any page on the web. Flo does not upload or store your file. You paste a Delivery URL on the product, and Flo sends that link to the buyer after a successful one-time purchase.
Courses and memberships are different
Courses use lessons, progress, and the course portal — not a single delivery URL on a product. Memberships use tiers and the membership hub. This page is for Products with type Digital download or Manual delivery under Dashboard → Monetize → Products.
Digital download vs manual delivery
| Digital download | Manual delivery | |
|---|---|---|
| You provide | A Delivery URL (required) | Nothing automatic — you fulfill yourself |
| Best for | PDFs, templates, presets, Notion, video links, license keys on a page | Physical goods, coaching, custom work, DM access |
| After payment | Receipt email + Download in My Products (when the fan is signed in) | Sale recorded; fan sees Manual delivery in My Products |
| Catalog filter | Downloads | Physical (label for ship-yourself / manual offers) |
| Checkout block | Digital download block in the builder | Physical product block |
Both types can be free or paid when Flo Payments is active for paid amounts.
Set up a digital product
Choose Digital download
On New product or Edit product, under Delivery, select Digital download — A URL sent after purchase.
Add a Delivery URL
Paste a full link starting with
https://(required to save). Examples: Google Drive share link, Dropbox, Notion page, your own download page.Save and publish
Turn Publish immediately on (or publish from the product card later). Only live products can be sold on your page.
Add checkout on your page
In the builder, add a Digital download checkout block and select this product. Update live on the page.
Walkthrough: Create a product.
Delivery URL rules
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Required | Digital products cannot save without a valid URL |
| Format | Must be a real web address (https://…) |
| What Flo does not do | Host files, generate signed links, or track download counts |
| Your responsibility | Link stays public (or access-controlled on your side), works on mobile, and does not expire mid-launch |
Use a stable link
Pick a link you control. If you move the file later, update the Delivery URL on the product. Buyers who already got the email keep that email’s link; My Products shows whatever URL is saved on the product now (see If you change the URL later).
What happens after someone buys
1. Payment succeeds
Flo records the sale, updates your Wallet, and (for paid products) runs the normal Flo Payments flow.
2. Buyer sees confirmation
On Featured or Minimal checkout, the Flo Pay modal shows Payment complete! then returns to a success page.
The success page tells digital buyers:
Check your email for your receipt and download link.
Manual delivery buyers see that the creator will be in touch.
3. Receipt email (digital only)
When all of these are true:
- The product is Digital download
- You saved a Delivery URL
- Stripe has the buyer’s email from checkout (payment form)
Flo sends a receipt email:
| Part | Content |
|---|---|
| Subject | Your purchase: [product name] |
| Headline | Here's your download |
| Button | Access your purchase → (opens your Delivery URL) |
| From | Flo receipts address (transactional, not marketing) |
If checkout did not collect an email, this email is not sent. The sale can still complete — encourage buyers to use a real email in the payment step.
4. You get notified
| Channel | What you see |
|---|---|
| New sale — product name and buyer email when Stripe shared it (Email not shared if missing) | |
| Dashboard notification | New sale — [product name] with buyer email when available |
| Wallet | Revenue for the sale (timing: pending → available per your payout settings) |
Flo does not attach the delivery URL to your sale email — you already set it on the product.
5. Fan Hub — My Products
Buyers can open your fan portal and sign in at:
https://myflo.link/[your-username]/portal/products
(My Products)
| Product type | What they see |
|---|---|
| Digital download | A Download button (opens your Delivery URL in a new tab) |
| Manual delivery | Gray Manual delivery label — no automatic link |
Signing in: Fans use your branded login page (https://myflo.link/[your-username]/login). When they sign in with the same email they used at checkout, Flo links past purchases to their account so My Products fills in.
They do not need a membership to see product purchases — only a fan account for your creator.
Order bumps, upsells, and multiple items
| Situation | Delivery behavior |
|---|---|
| Main digital product | Receipt email + My Products for the main item |
| Digital order bump (same checkout) | Extra row in My Products when the fan is linked by email; no separate receipt email for the bump today — share the bump’s link in the main product URL or follow up manually |
| Post-purchase upsell (digital) | Separate sale + receipt email for the upsell product when it is digital and has a Delivery URL |
Details: Order bumps & upsells.
Membership perks on products
If a membership tier includes a product as a benefit, entitled members can see that product in My Products even without a separate checkout — with a Download button when the product is digital.
That is separate from a one-time product purchase. See Memberships overview.
Manual delivery workflow
Choose Manual delivery when Flo should only take payment and record the order.
Create the product
Manual delivery — no Delivery URL field.
Sell on your page
Use a Physical product checkout block (same payment flow; the name refers to fulfillment style, not only shipping).
After each sale
Use the buyer email from your New sale notification (when provided) to ship, email files, invite them to Discord, book a call, etc.
Fan expectation
They see Manual delivery in My Products — set expectations in your product description and confirmation messaging.
Flo does not send them a download link automatically. You are responsible for fulfillment timing and communication.
If you change the URL later
Flo stores the Delivery URL on the product, not a separate copy per order in My Products.
| Channel | What happens when you edit the URL |
|---|---|
| Receipt email | Already sent — still has the old link from purchase time |
| My Products | Shows the current URL on the product — updates for all past buyers who open Download |
| Your catalog | New buyers get the new URL in email and portal |
Before a big launch: test the link in a private browser. After moving a file: update the product URL and, if needed, email existing buyers yourself.
Free digital products
$0 one-time prices are allowed.
- Checkout can complete without a card when the total is free (still follows your Flo Payments setup for paid products on the same account).
- Digital download still sends the receipt email when there is a Delivery URL and checkout collected an email.
- Use free digital products for lead magnets, samples, or list-building — pair with an email capture block if you want addresses before checkout.
Good link practices
| Tip | Why |
|---|---|
| Test in incognito | Confirm the link works without your logged-in Google/Dropbox session |
| Prefer “anyone with the link” on Drive/Dropbox | Buyers are not on your workspace |
| Use a landing page | One URL that explains what they bought and links to the file |
| Short, memorable codes | Easier to support (“open the link in your receipt”) |
| Describe access in the product description | e.g. “Instant PDF download” or “Notion template — duplicate to your account” |
Flo cannot fix broken Drive permissions or expired hosting — only the URL you provide.
What Flo does not deliver
| Not included | What to do instead |
|---|---|
| File hosting | Host on Drive, S3, Shopify, Gumroad, etc., and paste the link |
| License keys per buyer | Use a tool that generates keys, or manual delivery |
| Drip content over days | Use Courses or Memberships |
| Subscriptions | Use subscription pricing on the product or a Membership tier |
| Shipping labels | Manual delivery + your own ship workflow |
| Automatic bump receipt email | Point buyers to one link or email them the bump file |
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to check |
|---|---|
| Buyer did not get email | Wrong inbox / spam; checkout may not have collected email — resend the link yourself from Wallet / sale notification email |
| Link in email does not work | Permissions on Drive/Dropbox; typo in Delivery URL; file deleted at the host |
| My Products is empty | Fan signed in with a different email than checkout — use the same address or contact support |
| No Download button | Product is Manual delivery, or Delivery URL is missing on the product |
| Digital product on wrong block | Digital download block for digital products; Physical product block for manual |
| Paid checkout fails | Flo Payments not Active — Flo Payments setup |
| Buyer expected a file “from Flo” | Explain they receive your link — Flo sends the email, not the file bytes |
