Payment Plans

A payment plan lets fans pay in fixed installments on a schedule you choose — for example $99 per month for 3 months. After the last payment, billing stops automatically. There is no open-ended subscription to cancel later.

Creator plan and above

On the Free Flo plan, product pricing is one-time only. Payment plans (and subscriptions) unlock on Creator, Pro, and Studio. See Pricing overview → Flo plan limits.

Recurring prices need Flo Payments

Before you can save a payment plan, your Flo Payments earnings account must be Active. Finish setup under Settings → Flo Payments. Installments cannot charge until that is done.

Payment plans use the same Pricing editor as products and courses. They are not Memberships and not the same as a subscription that runs until someone cancels.

How payment plans work

  1. You set an amount per payment (not the full total divided for you — see below).
  2. You pick how often each payment runs: Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.
  3. You set how many payments (minimum 2).
  4. At checkout, the fan saves a card and pays on that schedule.
  5. After the final successful payment, Flo automatically stops billing. No manual step.

Example: $99 per payment · Monthly · 3 payments → the fan is charged $99 three times (about $297 total), then the plan ends.

Amount is per installment

The dollar amount on the price card is each payment, not the full program total. If you want “3 payments of $99,” enter $99 and set Number of payments to 3 — not $297 split across three.

The editor hint on Number of payments reads: Minimum 2. Subscription auto-cancels after the last payment. That means billing ends by itself after the last installment (Flo treats the plan like recurring billing under the hood, then closes it when the count is complete).

Set up a payment plan

  1. Open the product or course

Dashboard → Products → new or existing product, or Dashboard → Courses → course → Pricing tab.

  2. Choose Payment plan

In Pricing, open a price card (or Add price option). Under Pricing type, select Payment planFixed installments.

  3. Set You receive or Buyer pays

    • You receive — target take-home per payment after fees. Flo grosses up checkout so each successful installment hits that target.
    • Buyer pays — sticker price per payment (e.g. $99 each month).

See You receive vs Buyer pays.

  4. Billing interval

Billing interval pills: Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly. Each installment is charged on this cadence until the payment count is reached.

  5. Number of payments

Number of payments — at least 2 (e.g. 3 for “3 payments”). Required to save a payment plan.

  6. Label and description

Checkout shows the per-payment amount with the interval (e.g. $99 / month). Use Label and Description to spell out the plan — e.g. label 3 payments, description Then done — no ongoing subscription.

  7. Save and publish

Save the product or course. Add a Sell a Product (or course checkout) block, select it, Update live.

Up to three price options per product or course (e.g. one-time, 3× monthly plan, 6× monthly plan).

There is no trial period field on payment plans — trials are for subscriptions only.

You receive vs Buyer pays (each installment)

Each installment uses the same You receive / Buyer pays controls as one-time and subscription pricing.

ModeYou setEach successful installment
You receiveTarget take-home per paymentFan pays the grossed-up total you saved; guaranteed net applies on each successful charge
Buyer paysSticker price per paymentFan pays exactly that; fees come out of your payout

Guaranteed net on every installment

Guaranteed net applies to successful charges at the saved price, using your current Flo plan and currency rules. It does not override refunds, chargebacks, failed payments, or payout timing in Wallet.

Paid installments should meet the editor hint: Minimum $0.50 for paid prices (50¢ USD by default). $0 per payment is allowed if you want a free multi-step funnel (unusual).

What fans see at checkout

  1. They pick your payment plan option if you offer more than one price.
  2. The price line shows the per-payment amount and interval (e.g. $99 / month). Use your Label / Description to clarify “3 payments” if helpful.
  3. Checkout explains that installment plans renew until cancelled (same disclosure as subscriptions) and that they will review billing details before confirming.
  4. Featured and Minimal blocks: email + card in Flo Pay — button may read Get started or Subscribe $99.00 (wording varies by block style).
  5. Card-style blocks: Get started → secure hosted checkout page.
  6. On success: confirmation such as You're subscribed! and an email: Your payment plan for [product name] is confirmed.

Fans do not need a Flo account. They need a valid card for paid plans.

Discount codes do not apply to payment-plan checkout. Coupons in Discounts work for one-time purchases only. See Pricing overview → Coupons.

Cancelling mid-plan

Fans and creators can cancel before all installments complete. Cancellation is immediate for future charges — remaining scheduled payments will not run.

YouDashboard → Wallet → SubscriptionsCancel subscription for [buyer email]? This cannot be undone.

The fan portal button still says Cancel subscription even for payment plans — it stops the plan the same way.

If a fan completes all payments, the plan ends on its own; they do not need to cancel.

Managing buyers on a plan (creator)

Dashboard → Wallet → Subscriptions — same tab as subscriptions:

  • Filter by Active, Trial, Payment issues, Cancelled
  • Search by buyer email
  • Cancel a plan early if needed

Payment plans count toward subscriber stats while active. MRR reflects recurring revenue from active plans and subscriptions.

Fan portal: My Subscriptions

For payment plans, fans see:

  • Price — e.g. $99.00 × 3 payments
  • Progress2 of 3 payments
  • Next billing — when the next installment is due (until the plan completes or is cancelled)
  • Manage billing & payment — update card or view invoices

Changing prices when people are already on a plan

If buyers are already on that price row, the yellow editor banner appears (same as subscriptions):

Changing the amount, interval, or type will create a new billing price. Existing subscribers stay on their current price — only new buyers will see the updated one.

If checkout is not ready, the product list may show Subscription price not synced — save again after Flo Payments is Active.
