Connect Bank
Flo Payments sends your earnings to a bank account you link during setup. Flo does not store your full account number on Flo’s servers — you enter details in a secure form, and Flo’s payments partner handles verification and transfers.
This guide covers connecting your bank, what you see in Wallet, changing your account later, and debit cards (optional, for faster payouts only).
Bank connection is part of Flo Payments
You connect your bank inside the Flo Payments setup flow, not as a separate Wallet-only step. Until your earnings account is Active, paid sales cannot complete. See Connect payments and Flo Payments setup.
When you need a bank account
| Situation | Bank required? |
|---|---|
| Paid products, courses, memberships, bookings | Yes — after identity and verification |
| $0 offers, free bookings, email capture | No |
| Receiving payouts to your bank | Yes |
| Instant payout to a debit card | Optional debit card in addition to bank — Payout schedule |
Identity alone is not enough
Finishing your name and address without a valid bank account does not turn on payouts. Step 3 — bank in setup is required before Activate Flo Payments.
First time: link your bank in setup
Where to start
| Entry point | Goes to |
|---|---|
| Settings → Flo Payments → Set up Flo earnings account | /settings/payments/setup |
| Dashboard → Grow → Wallet (not connected) | Set up Flo earnings account → |
| Dashboard → Overview | Set up Flo Payments to get paid when shown |
Step 3 — Where should we send your money?
After identity (step 1) and business type (step 2), Flo asks for your payout bank account.
| What you see | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Where should we send your money? | Bank step title |
| Your bank details are encrypted and never stored on our servers. | Flo only keeps a secure token with the payments partner |
| Name on account | Must match what your bank has on file (legal name or business name as appropriate) |
| Country-specific fields | Loaded from the country you chose in step 1 |
Click Continue after details save. A short loading screen may say Linking your bank account while Flo attaches your account.
If a bank is already linked
If you started setup before and already linked an account, you may see Bank account on file:
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Continue | Keep the existing account and move to ID upload |
| Use a different account | Opens the full bank form again to replace it |
Review before activation
On step 5 — Review, the Bank account row shows Account ending in …XXXX (last four digits only). Use Edit to return to step 3 if something is wrong.
Supported countries and bank formats
Your country in step 1 decides which bank fields appear and which currency Flo uses for settlement. Flo supports creators in many regions — full list in Flo Payments setup → Supported countries.
| Bank format | Countries (examples) | What you enter |
|---|---|---|
| Routing + account | United States | 9-digit routing number + account number |
| Institution + transit + account | Canada | 3-digit institution, 5-digit transit, account number |
| Sort code + account | United Kingdom | 6-digit sort code + 8-digit account number |
| IBAN | Ireland, Germany, France, most EU/EEA, Nordics, Switzerland | Full IBAN |
| BSB + account | Australia | 6-digit BSB + account number |
| National account number | New Zealand | 15–16 character account number from statements |
| Bank + branch codes + account | Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan | Bank/branch codes plus account (Japan: use name style your bank accepts on records) |
If your country is not in the list, you cannot finish Flo Payments in the app today. Free offers and email capture still work.
Security and what Flo stores
| Topic | How Flo handles it |
|---|---|
| Full account number | Not saved on Flo servers |
| Entry form | Encrypted; sent to Flo’s payments partner to create a secure link |
| What Flo keeps | Status, last four digits, bank name when available, and payout currency |
| Who moves the money | Flo initiates payouts to the linked account on your schedule |
You may see a lock icon and copy like Encrypted with bank-grade security on the bank step.
After your bank is connected
Settings → Flo Payments
On the Payout settings card:
| Row | Example |
|---|---|
| Bank account | Chase · …4821 · USD (bank name when known, last four, currency) |
| Change | Opens Change bank account (see below) |
If Flo cannot load live bank info, you may see Couldn't load — try again later and a note that payout schedule is from your last successful save.
Dashboard → Wallet
| Place | What you see |
|---|---|
| Page header (when linked) | Bank connected · ···· 1234 (last four digits) |
| Incoming payout banner | May include ···· 1234 on in-transit transfers |
| Payouts tab | History and Your payout plan — not full account numbers |
Flo never shows your full routing number, IBAN, or account number in Wallet after setup.
Change your bank account later
Use this when you switched banks, closed an old account, or a payout failed because of bad details.
Requirements
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Earnings account status | Must be Active — you cannot change bank while setup is incomplete |
| Where in Flo | Settings → Payments → Payout settings → Change |
Change bank account modal
Flo opens a dialog titled Change bank account:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name on account | Hint: Use the name your bank has on file. |
| Routing number | Nine digits (US-style form in the app today) |
| Account number | Checking or savings; Show / Hide toggle |
| Save bank account | Replaces the payout destination |
Footer: Payouts will go to this account. Your details are encrypted and never stored on Flo’s servers.
International accounts
First-time setup uses the correct form for your country (IBAN, sort code, BSB, etc.). The Change screen in settings currently uses US routing and account fields. If you onboarded outside the US and need a different bank format, contact support@myflo.link or follow any Complete verification / Continue setup prompt that returns you to the setup wizard.
Tips when switching banks
| Tip | Why |
|---|---|
| Wait for one successful payout to the new account before closing the old bank | Confirms the new link works |
| Avoid changing right before a big launch | A failed verification can delay the next scheduled payout |
| Match the legal name on the account to what you used in Flo Payments | Reduces “name doesn’t match bank” errors |
Debit card (instant payouts only)
A debit card is optional and separate from your bank account.
| Topic | Detail |
|---|---|
| Purpose | Instant payout (~30 minutes) — not your normal weekly/daily/monthly bank transfer |
| Where to add | Wallet → Earnings → Add debit card (when eligible) |
| Card type | Visa or Mastercard debit — credit cards are not supported |
| Fields | Name on card, card number, expiry, security code |
| Requirements | Paid Flo plan, 90 days since earnings account approved, card that supports instant transfers |
Your bank account remains the default destination for scheduled payouts. The debit card is only for optional instant transfers.
Verification after you submit
Flo’s payments partner may verify your bank automatically when you submit. Sometimes more steps are needed:
| Signal | What to do |
|---|---|
| Action needed on your earnings account banner (Settings or Wallet) | Complete verification → setup wizard |
| Account is being verified | Wait for email; check Settings → Flo Payments status |
| Additional information needed | Upload ID or fix fields Flo lists — Flo Payments setup |
Flo does not ask you to complete bank linking inside Wallet itself — always through Settings → Payments or the setup flow.
When payouts fail because of bank details
| Symptom | What to do |
|---|---|
| Your last payout failed on Wallet | Open Settings → Payments → Change and re-enter correct details |
| Account number doesn’t look right | Double-check digits; re-save |
| Name doesn’t match bank | Use the exact spelling your bank expects on the account |
| Bank account closed | Link a different active account |
| Account cannot be used yet | Bank may need verification — try another account or wait and retry |
After you fix the bank, funds usually return to Available and the next eligible payout run can proceed.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| No bank line in Settings | Finish setup step 3; wait until earnings account is Active |
| Wallet says Set up earnings account | You have not completed Flo Payments — start at Settings → Flo Payments |
| Change is disabled or missing | Account may not be Active yet; complete verification first |
| Save bank fails immediately | Routing/account length; name mismatch; try again when the form says the payment system is ready |
| Bank connected but no payouts | Pending balance, booking holds, below minimum, or account alerts |
| Wrong country at setup | Country is set in step 1 — contact support if you chose the wrong country before activating |
| Need non-US bank change after Active | support@myflo.link or verification flow back into setup |
