Reactions & Comments

Every published community post members can read includes a reactions row and a comments thread. You use the same tools in the Membership Hub (as the host) and in the Fan Hub portal (as a member would).

For writing and scheduling posts, see Community posts. For feed layout and filters, see Community overview.

Creator plan required

You need Creator or above to moderate comments in the hub. Members need an active membership and access to the post (not locked behind a higher tier).

Open a post by clicking its card, or tap the comment control on a card to jump straight to the comment box.

Reactions

Flo supports five reactions on each post:

Emoji
❤️Heart
🔥Fire
🙌Hands
😂Laugh
😮Surprised

Members can add more than one reaction on the same post (for example ❤️ and 🔥). Tapping the same emoji again removes that reaction.

The heart count on the feed is the number of ❤️ reactions. Other emoji totals appear as small pills under the reaction row when at least one person has used them.

Quick heart from the feed

On a feed card, tap ❤️ to add or remove your heart without opening the full post. The count updates on the card.

All reactions in the post view

Inside a post, use the ❤️ control at the top of the engagement section:

DeviceHow to pick another emoji
Desktop (mouse)Hover the heart briefly — a strip of all five emoji appears above it
Phone / tabletPress and hold the heart — a React sheet slides up from the bottom

Tap any emoji in the strip or sheet to toggle it on or off. Tap ❤️ alone for a fast heart without opening the picker.

Reaction summary pills

Below the heart and N comments line, Flo lists pills such as ❤️ 12 · 🔥 3 for emoji that have at least one vote. Your own reactions are highlighted so you can see what you picked.

Comments

Write a top-level comment

At the bottom of the post detail view:

ElementDetail
AvatarYour profile image
FieldWrite a comment…
ButtonComment (enabled when the field is not empty)

Comments are plain text — line breaks are kept. There is no rich formatting in comments.

LimitDetail
MinimumAt least one character — empty comments cannot be posted
MaximumVery long comments are capped (thousands of characters) — if you hit the limit, Flo asks you to shorten the text

Reply to a comment

On a top-level comment (not on a reply):

Click ReplyOpens a box Reply to [name]…
Write and ReplyYour reply appears indented under that comment
CancelCloses the reply box without posting

One level of replies only — members can reply to a top-level comment, but cannot reply to someone else’s reply.

The Reply label can show a count, for example Reply · 2, when replies exist.

Host badge

When you (the program owner) comment on your own post, your name shows a Host badge so members can spot official answers.

Engagement on locked (tier-gated) posts

Members who do not have the required tier see a locked teaser in the feed — not the full post. They cannot react or comment until they upgrade and can open the full post.

You can still react and comment on your own posts in the hub regardless of tier settings.

What you see as the creator (hub)

In the Membership Hub, open any post you can read. Below the post body you get the same reaction and comment UI, plus moderation tools on other people’s comments.

Moderate a comment

Hover a comment (or tap on touch devices) to open the menu:

ActionWhat it does
Hide commentRemoves it from the thread for everyone — the comment is not deleted from Flo’s records, but members no longer see it
Delete commentAsks Delete this comment permanently? — removes the comment and any replies under it for good

There is no Edit comment for you or members — use Hide or Delete if something needs to come down.

After you hide or delete, the comment count on the post updates.

Report a post (feed)

On feed cards, Report appears on the right side of the reaction row (hub feed and member portal). Use it when previewing as a member or when reviewing flagged content.

Reporting a post (not a comment) opens a short list of reasons, for example:

  • Explicit or adult content
  • Spam or misleading
  • Harassment or abuse
  • Illegal activity
  • Impersonation
  • Other

Pick a reason and submit. Flo stores the report for review.

Comment reports (members only)

In the portal, members see on other people’s comments (not on their own) with Report. After they report, Flo shows Comment reported. We will review it shortly.

You do not get an automatic inbox for each report — use moderation on comments you can see in the hub.

What members see (Fan Hub)

They canDetail
ReactSame five emoji; heart on feed; hover or long-press for more
CommentWrite a comment… on posts they can fully read
ReplyOne level under a top-level comment
ReportReport on posts (feed) and on others’ comments

They must be signed in as a fan. If they are not logged in, engagement actions ask them to sign in.

Leaderboards and points (optional)

If your program uses Leaderboards, member activity on posts can add points toward rankings — for example commenting, reacting, or liking. Points are awarded per post (not every time someone toggles an emoji on and off).

As the creator, your own hub actions use your creator account for counts, separate from a fan test account you might use in Preview portal.

Suggested workflows

Pin a discussion prompt

  1. Publish a short question post

Ask one clear question in the body — Community posts.

  2. Pin it

Pin post so it stays at the top of the feed.

  3. Reply as Host

Comment on your own post so members see a Host answer model.

Clean up spam or harassment

  1. Open the post

Click the post from your hub feed.

  2. Moderate

Hover the comment → Hide comment (quick) or Delete comment (permanent, including replies).

  3. Optional

Use Report reasons as a guide for what violates your community norms; delete repeat offenders’ comments.

Test the member experience

  1. Preview portal

Preview portal from the hub — Membership Hub overview.

  2. React and comment

Sign in as a test member if needed; try heart, emoji strip, comment, and reply.

  3. Return to hub

Confirm counts and your moderation menu on the same post.

Troubleshooting

IssueWhat to check
Like count looks wrong after refreshIf you are logged in as both creator and a test fan in one browser, use separate browsers or profiles — Flo ties reactions to the active account
Cannot add a reactionAre you signed in? Is the post published and visible to you (not locked)?
Emoji strip does not appearOn desktop, hover the heart; on mobile, long-press the heart
Comment button disabledType at least one character in Write a comment…
Cannot reply to a replyOnly one reply level is supported — reply to the original top-level comment
Replies to replies are not supportedSame — reply to the parent comment, not a nested reply
Hide vs DeleteHide removes from view; Delete is permanent and removes replies too
Member cannot comment on a postThey may see a locked tier-gated card — they need the right tier
Edit missing on phonePost editing is desktop-only; reading comments works on mobile
No Report on a comment in hubExpected — creators use Hide / Delete; Report is for members in the portal
Comment too longShorten the text — Flo enforces a maximum length
