Broadcasts Overview
Broadcasts are email campaigns you write in Flo and send from Dashboard → Broadcasts. They reach people who agreed to hear from you — usually your subscribed list from the Newsletter block — or, optionally, active members of a membership you run.
Creator plan requiredBroadcasts are a Creator feature and above. Free accounts see an upgrade prompt instead of the broadcasts screen.
What broadcasts are (and are not)
| Broadcasts | Not broadcasts |
|---|---|
| Newsletters and promotions you compose and send | Newsletter signup confirmation emails (automatic) |
| Updates to subscribed fans or members you choose | Receipts, password resets, and other one-off system emails |
| Shown on Dashboard → Broadcasts with opens, clicks, and reports | Membership welcome or billing emails configured elsewhere |
If you are building your list first, start with Subscribers overview and Email capture. This guide assumes you are ready to send.
Fan Hub vs subscribers
Fan Hub is for buyers, bookers, and membership fans. Subscribers are your marketing email list. Someone can be one, both, or neither. Most broadcasts go to subscribers; see Members-only sends below.
Who can receive a broadcast
In the composer you pick an Audience:
| Audience | Who receives it | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| All subscribers | Everyone on your list with status subscribed (confirmed double opt-in) | Does not include pending (unconfirmed) or unsubscribed |
| Members only | Active fans of a membership you select | You need at least one membership; they do not have to be on your subscriber list |
The composer shows a live count (for example 1,240 subscribers or 86 members) before you send.

Plan limits
| Plan | Can send broadcasts? | Sends per calendar month | Email look & feel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | No — upgrade to Creator | — | — |
| Creator | Yes | 5 completed sends | Partial branding — header and button colors |
| Pro | Yes | Unlimited | Full branding — logo and full footer control |
| Studio | Yes | Unlimited | Full branding (same as Pro) |
How the monthly cap works (Creator)
Flo counts broadcasts that have finished sending with status Sent in the current calendar month (UTC). Drafts and scheduled campaigns do not count until they actually send.
When you hit 5 sent broadcasts in a month, the next send is blocked until the month resets or you upgrade to Pro or Studio.
Full tables (list size, AI, speed limits, scheduled sends): Broadcast limits.
Before your first send
Complete these once; Flo reminds you on the list and in the composer if something is missing.
Upgrade to Creator or above
Free cannot open the broadcasts workflow.
Grow a subscribed audience
Fans must confirm via your Newsletter block — Email capture. Pending signups are not mailed.
Add your physical mailing address
Settings → Profile → Physical address. Every commercial email footer must include a real postal address (CAN-SPAM). Without it, New broadcast and Send are blocked.
Set how mail comes from you
Settings → Email sending — From name, From email on your Flo subdomain (
yourname.myflo.link) or a verified custom domain, and Reply-to. See Email domain.Accept the email policy (first time)
The first time you send, Flo shows Email Sending Agreement. Check the box and Agree and Continue. You must confirm opt-in-only lists, honest subjects, and that Flo may pause sending for deliverability issues.
Physical address required
If the address is missing, you see a yellow banner on Broadcasts and in compose: Broadcasts must include a physical mailing address in the footer. Use Open Settings to go to Settings → Profile.
Dashboard → Broadcasts
Open Dashboard → Broadcasts from the sidebar.
Header
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|

| New broadcast | Starts a blank campaign at compose |
When you already have campaigns, the subtitle shows totals: sent, scheduled, draft (includes ones still sending), optional failed, and your subscriber count.
Summary cards (after first send)
| Card | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Total sent | How many campaigns reached Sent (or are still Sending) |
| Avg open rate | Average open percentage across those sends |
| Total reached | Sum of recipients across sent campaigns |
Search and filters
- Search — matches subject and preview text.
- Status pills — All, Drafts (draft + still sending), Scheduled, Sent, Failed.
Table columns
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Subject | Title; empty drafts show Untitled draft; member sends show MEMBERS |
| Status | Draft, Scheduled, Sending, Sent, or Failed |
| Recipients | How many people were targeted (— until sent) |
| Opens / clicks / bounce | Engagement after send (— for drafts) |
| Sent / Scheduled | Send date, or Sends [date] for scheduled |

Row actions (⋯ menu)
| Status | Typical actions |
|---|---|
| Draft, Scheduled, Failed | Edit, Duplicate, Delete |
| Sent, Sending, Failed (after send started) | View report, Duplicate |
| Sent (finished) | Cannot edit or delete — duplicate to resend with changes |
Click a draft, scheduled, or failed row to open the composer. Sent rows open only via View report.
Bulk actions
Select multiple draft, scheduled, or failed rows → Delete drafts on the bulk bar. Sent rows cannot be selected.
Empty states
| Situation | What you see |
|---|---|
| No campaigns yet | Send your first broadcast → Write first broadcast |
| Filters match nothing | No broadcasts match → Clear filters |
| Campaigns exist but 0 subscribers | Warning with link to Builder to add a Newsletter block |
Campaign statuses
| Status | What it means | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Saved, not scheduled or sent | Edit, send, schedule, delete, duplicate |
| Scheduled | Set to send at a future date and time | Edit, reschedule, delete, duplicate |
| Sending | Flo is delivering in batches (large lists take time) | Wait; open View report for live progress |
| Sent | Delivery finished | View report only; duplicate to copy content |
| Failed | Something stopped the send (limits, suspension, empty audience, etc.) | Read the error, fix, edit, and try again |
Large lists do not all leave in one second — Flo sends in waves so deliverability stays healthy. Status may sit on Sending for a while; that is normal.
Sending flow (short)
Full editor detail lives in Compose a broadcast.
New broadcast
Dashboard → Broadcasts → New broadcast (or Write first broadcast).
Audience, subject, body
Pick All subscribers or Members only, write subject and content, optional preview text. Drafts autosave (you see Saved / Saving… in the header).
Preview
Check mobile layout and footer — your physical address should appear.
Send now or schedule
Send opens a confirmation: Send this broadcast? with recipient count. Schedule picks date and time in the preview panel — Scheduling broadcasts.
Report
After send, View report shows recipients, delivered, opens, clicks, and unsubscribes from that campaign.
Deliverability and reputation
Flo monitors bounces, spam complaints, and send volume so one bad list does not hurt everyone.
| Topic | Where to read more |
|---|---|
| Sender Reputation card (score, throttling, suspension) | Sender reputation on Dashboard → Subscribers |
| List health tiers (Hot / Warm / Cool / Cold) | Manage your list |
| Domains, warm-up, soft bounces | Broadcast deliverability |
If sending is suspended, new broadcasts fail with Email sending is suspended for your account. Contact support@myflo.link after cleaning your list.
Email branding by plan
Set colors and logo under Settings → Email sending (and related branding settings).
| Plan | Branding |
|---|---|
| Creator | Partial — customize email header and button colors |
| Pro / Studio | Full — add logo and control the full footer area |
Every broadcast still includes required footer elements (unsubscribe link and your physical address).
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to check |
|---|---|
| Cannot open Broadcasts | Free plan — upgrade to Creator |
| Yellow physical address banner | Settings → Profile → Physical address |
| Please accept the Flo email policy | Complete Email Sending Agreement on first send |
| Email sending is suspended | Sender reputation — contact support@myflo.link |
| Hit 5 broadcasts this month | Creator cap — wait for next month or upgrade to Pro |
| 0 recipients on send | No subscribed fans, or empty membership for Members only |
| Stuck on Sending | Large list or throttling — check report; may finish over time |
| Failed send | Open the draft, read Flo’s error (quota, suspension, audience, warm-up) |
| Low opens | Subject line, list quality, reputation — Deliverability |
| Cannot edit a Sent campaign | By design — Duplicate, change copy, send again |
| Manage subscribers vs members | Subscribers list ≠ membership roster — pick the right Audience |
