Email Capture
The main way to grow your Flo subscriber list is the Newsletter block on your public page. Fans enter an email, confirm by link, and appear in Dashboard → Subscribers as subscribed contacts you can email with Broadcasts.
In the builder library the block is labeled Newsletter (type: email signup). For every layout, field, and tab in the right panel, see Email capture (Newsletter block). This guide focuses on list growth: setup, fan experience, and what you see after signups.
How email capture fits your stack
| Piece | Role |
|---|---|
| Newsletter block | Signup form on myflo.link/yourname |
| Double opt-in | Fan confirms by email before they are fully on the list |
| Dashboard → Subscribers | Every signup, status, and export |
| Broadcasts | Email campaigns to subscribed fans (Creator+) |
Not the same as Fan Hub
Subscribers are your marketing list. Fan Hub is for buyers, members, and portal access. A fan can be on one list, both, or neither — Subscribers overview.
What fans experience
See your offer on the page
They read your headline (and optional subheadline, benefits, or lead-magnet line depending on layout).
Submit the form
They enter an email. On Featured and Inline layouts they can also enter a first name if you turned on Collect first name.
Success on the page
The form is replaced by your Success message (default: You're in! Check your inbox.) plus a short note to check email for a confirmation link. If delivery is slow, Flo may add: Your confirmation email may take a few minutes to arrive — check spam if needed.
Confirm by email
Flo sends a confirmation email from Flo (
noreply@myflo.link). They click the link in that message.Confirmation page
They land on a Flo page: You're subscribed! with your name or photo when available, and a link back to your page.
On your list
In Subscribers they show as subscribed — they count toward your plan cap and can receive broadcasts.
Already subscribed
If that email is already subscribed, the form still shows success. Flo does not send another confirmation email or create a duplicate row.
Pending until they click
Right after the form, the contact is pending in Subscribers. They do not count toward your confirmed cap and do not receive broadcasts until they confirm — Subscribers overview.
The Featured layout also shows a small trust line at the bottom: No spam, unsubscribe anytime.
Plan limits
Only subscribed (confirmed) contacts count toward your cap:
| Plan | Confirmed subscribers |
|---|---|
| Free | 250 |
| Creator | 2,500 |
| Pro / Studio | Unlimited |
When you are at the cap, the signup form can still look successful to the fan, but Flo does not add another confirmed subscriber. Upgrade or remove old contacts before a big launch — watch counts on Dashboard → Subscribers.
Set up capture on your page
Open the builder
Dashboard → Builder on a desktop browser.
Add Newsletter
Layers → + or Block tab (no block selected) → Newsletter.
Write your offer
Content tab: headline, subheadline, button text, and optional lead-magnet fields. Use a clear reason to subscribe (template, tips, updates).
Pick a layout
Display tab → Layout: Featured (default, best for a main CTA), Inline, Compact, or Minimal. See Layout comparison in the block guide.
Publish
Flo auto-saves your draft. Click Publish or Update live so the form works at
https://myflo.link/yourname— Publishing.Test like a fan
Open your live page in a private window, submit a test email you control, click the confirmation link, then check Dashboard → Subscribers for subscribed.
Page must be live
Signups only work when your Flo page is published and the Newsletter block is on that live page. A draft page or builder preview alone does not add real subscribers.
Quick copy checklist
| Field | Tip |
|---|---|
| Headline | One clear promise (Weekly tips for creators) |
| Subheadline | What they get and how often |
| Button text | Action word (Subscribe, Get the guide) |
| Success message | Remind them to check inbox |
| Offer / lead magnet | Optional freebie line on Featured or Compact |
| Benefits | Up to three bullets on Featured only |
| Send frequency | Sets expectations (Every Tuesday) |
Optional Show subscriber count on Featured shows Join X readers only when you also enter a Display count number yourself — Flo does not auto-fill your live total yet.
What shows up in Subscribers
After signups, open Dashboard → Subscribers:
| What you see | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Signed up; has not clicked the confirmation email yet |
| Subscribed | Confirmed — full list member |
| Source | Your block headline if set, otherwise Newsletter, Manual, or Page block |
| Joined | Date they confirmed (or signed up if still pending) |
| +N this month | New subscribed contacts this calendar month |
Filter by Pending to see who still needs to confirm. A low Confirmed rate often means fans are missing the confirmation email — mention inbox and spam in your Success message or page copy.
Manage search, export, and removal: Manage your list.
Double opt-in (why Flo does it)
Flo always uses double opt-in for Newsletter signups:
| Benefit | For you |
|---|---|
| Consent | Fans actively confirm they want your emails |
| Deliverability | Fewer spam complaints and bounces on broadcasts |
| List quality | Subscribed rows are people who completed both steps |
You cannot turn double opt-in off for public Newsletter signups today. Treat pending as normal for a few hours or days after a launch.
Signup rules (what Flo enforces)
These keep your list safe without you configuring anything:
| Rule | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Live Newsletter block only | Signups must come from your real block on your published page — random scripts cannot add contacts |
| Valid email | Fans see Please enter a valid email address if the format is wrong |
| Rate limit | Too many attempts from one place may show Too many requests. Please try again later. |
| Plan cap | At max subscribed count, new confirmations stop counting even if the form looks fine |
After fans are subscribed
| Next step | Guide |
|---|---|
| Send your first campaign | Broadcasts overview — Creator+, physical address on profile, subscribed audience |
| Watch deliverability | Sender reputation on the Subscribers page |
| Export or import | Import & export |
| Hide block sometimes | Behavior tab — schedule or device rules — Blocks |
Broadcasts only go to subscribed contacts, not pending or unsubscribed.
Newsletter vs Link block
| Newsletter | Link | |
|---|---|---|
| Goal | Grow your email list | Send traffic elsewhere |
| Fan action | Email + confirm | Tap a URL |
| You manage | Subscribers | No list row |
Use Newsletter when you want to own the relationship. Use Link for Instagram, YouTube, or an external checkout.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to try |
|---|---|
| No signups at all | Page published; block on live URL; test on myflo.link/yourname not builder only |
| Form works but no row in Subscribers | Use a real email; check All filter; refresh the dashboard |
| Stuck on pending | Fan must click confirmation link; check spam; resubmit only if needed |
| No confirmation email | Spam folder; wait a few minutes; success screen may note delayed delivery |
| Fan says form “worked” but not on list | Still pending, at plan cap, or wrong email typed |
| Invalid email on submit | Fan must fix the address format |
| Too many requests | Wait and try again — Flo limits rapid signup attempts |
| New signups stopped at cap | Upgrade plan or remove old subscribed contacts |
| Source wrong in table | Set a clear Headline on the block — that becomes the source label |
| Name not collected | Collect first name only works on Featured and Inline layouts |
