A/B TestingUsing the Builder
Test Lifecycle
Each A/B test moves through four statuses. The header pill in the builder shows where you are. What visitors see at https://myflo.link/yourname depends on both page publish state and test status.
Status → public behavior
| Status | Header pill | Builder | Public visitors (published page) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Draft | Draft | Edit variants A / B, set traffic, then Start test | Normal live page — variant edits are not shown |
| Running | Live | Monitor Results, pause, declare winner, or end — variant blocks and page settings are locked (pause to edit) | Traffic split to variants (cookie keeps returning visitors on the same variant) |
| Paused | Paused | Edit variants again; Resume, declare winner, or end | Normal live page again until you resume |
| Completed | (test closed) | Single-page editing; Update live after a winner if needed | Live page (winning variant promoted if you declared a winner) |
Builder preview vs live page
The multi-variant canvas in the builder always shows your draft, live, or paused test. View live preview opens your public URL — visitors only see variants while the test is Live (running).
Typical flow
- Draft — create test, edit variants, set traffic to 100%.
- Start test → Live — measurement begins; public assignment starts.
- Pause (optional) — stop new variant traffic; visitors see the live page. Pause is also required before editing variant content while a test was live.
- Resume → back to Live (Flo saves any pending variant edits first), or Declare winner / End test without winner → Completed.
